A staining reaction for the nucleus and chromosomes, using silver-hexamethylentetramine, buffered with borax, after hydrolisis with warm IN HC1, has been proposed. Its specificity has been assayed by means of enzymatic digestions (DNase, pepsin, trypsin), and through the comparison of the results with those obtained by the Feulgen reaction.
