Abstract

The specific activity of citric acid of the lobster nerve which was incubated in Ringer-bicarbonate solution containing 14C-bicarbonate was determined. The specific activity of citric acid was higher than that of malic acid by a factor of 2.5. The citric acid obtained from the lobster nerve was degraded with an improved method which is described in this paper. The ratio of the radio-activity of C-6 to C-1 of citric acid was 1∶1. Aspartic acid obtained from the lobster nerve was also degraded, and the ratio of the radioactivity of C4 to C1 was almost 10∶1.
