Nitrate reducing activity of ten species of Chlorococcalean green algae, grown in three different nitrogen sources, is reported. Results showed that all the ten species exhibited nitrate reducing capacity but they differed very much in their activity. Induction of nitrate reductase was achieved by incubating in nitrate. Light stimulated the reduction of nitrate in all the ten species.
