A number of inherited variations of serum proteins in the sheep have been described (Ashton, 1958; Rendel and Stormont, 1964; Efremov and Braend, 1965; Lee, 1966; Tucker et al., 1966, 1967). Polymorphism of prealbumins has been reported to occur in some domestic animals (Kristjansson, 1963; Braend and Efremov, 1965; Gahne, 1966; Braend, 1967) detected by using starch gel electrophoresis. The present report describes a starch gel electrophoresis procedure for fractionation of sheep serum prealbumin and presents results on the genetic control of the prealbumins of sheep serum.
