Abstract

A part to be produced by metal removal process has to be placed on the machine tool in a pre-defined position and orientation in order to enable accurate machining. The pre-defined position is provided by a fixture. A fixture or a clamping device provides the physical connection between a machine tool and the part which has to be machined. Fig. 1 shows a prismatic part located on a machine tool.
