Quantisierung analoger Signale

Abstract

Quantisierung [quantization] analoger Signale als Trager von Informationen ist die Grundlage fur ihre diskrete Ubertragung und Verarbeitung. Da sehr oft Informationen von kontinuierlichen Quellen erzeugt werden (wie z. B. die Messung physikalischer Grosen, das Sprechen von Personen), deren Verarbeitung und Ubertragung in informationstechnischen Systemen jedoch in sehr grosem Umfang diskret erfolgt, liegt es nahe, sich mit dem Problem aus informationstheoretischer Sicht genauer zu befassen. Im Alltag nehmen wir oft gar nicht mehr bewusst wahr, dass wir quantisieren. Langenangaben machen wir eben in Metern oder auch Kilometern. Selbst wenn wir in den Nanometerbereich gehen, bleibt diese Angabe diskret. Langenanderungen, z. B. die Ausdehnung durch Temperaturerhohungen, geben wir in der gleichen Weise an, auch wenn sie mittels Dehnungsmesser bestimmt wurden, der zunachst ein kontinuierliches Signal erzeugt. Oder: Temperaturangaben erfolgen in Grad Celsius oder Kelvin. Wir lesen diese vom Thermometer ab und nehmen sie in diskreter Form zur Kenntnis oder ubermitteln sie weiter, obwohl die Ausdehnung der Thermometerflussigkeit kontinuierlich erfolgt. Ein weiterer Aspekt soll an dem simplen Beispiel der Temperaturmessung betrachtet werden. Wenn wir fur unseren taglichen Gebrauch die Ausentemperatur messen, reicht es vollkommen aus, diese Angabe in ganzen Graden zu bekommen. Eine genauere Messung ist fur uns vollig unwichtig. Schlieslich wollen wir aus dieser Information ja nur ableiten, ob wir einen Mantel anziehen mussen oder nicht.
