Abstract

Der ungesattigte Kohlenwasserstoff Pental, fruher des ofteren zur Einleitung von Narkosen verwandt, ist heute nur noch von medizingeschichtlichem Belange Einzelne ungluckliche Zufalle nach Pentalnarkosen (bei Zahnentfernungen usw.) wurden veroffentlicht (ihre Zusammenstellung s. bei Sackur 1893). Die wenigen bekannt gewordenen Sektionsergebnissse vermerken keinerlei fur die Vergiftung kennzeichnende Merkmale und gleichen weitgehend den Befunden beim Erstickungstod (C. Sick): Man konnte starke allgemeine Blausucht, Blutaustritte in Schleimhauten und serosen Hauten feststellen; im Herzen fand sich schwarzrotes, flussiges Blut. Bremme macht auf den Pentalgeruch bei Eroffnung der Bauchhohle und Durchschneiden der Lunge aufmerksam. In dem von ihm mitgeteilten Fall konnte man einen, der Lage nach dem Lidschlus entsprechenden, blasroten Streifen quer uber beide Augapfel ziehen sehen: Eine Reizerscheinung, hervorgerufen durch verdunstendes Pental, das offenbar — wie die an Muskeln und Nerven von Tieren vorgenommenen Versuche lehren — ortlich zerstorend wirken kann.
