</script>Just as the science of pharmacology could profit from a better understanding of the action of drugs on protoplasm, so too the science of pathology is in need of additional information as to what happens to protoplasm as a result of injury. Various pathological conditions are due to changes in the protoplasmic colloid, and many modern pathologists are beginning to realize that if one is properly to understand degenerative changes in protoplasm, one can not depend for information solely on studies made on cells whose protoplasm has been thoroughly coagulated and then cut into thin slices.
