Abstract

The topic of grains and grain houndaries is extremely vast and covers many different concepts, involving not only the associated microstructural features, hut also the effects on material characteristics such as corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. It is therefore essential to clearly define the relevant terminology in order to avoid all risk of confusion.
