Abstract

Es gibt zahlreiche Anhaltspunkte dafur, dass es im Sport zu Veranderungen kommt, weil Medien einen Einfluss auf den Sport ausuben. Eine solche Mediatisierung des Sports steht im Kern dieses Beitrags. Den Ausgangspunkt bildet die These, dass sich der Sport an der Logik der Massenmedien orientiert. Weitere Thesen dienen anschliesend der Differenzierung und Diskussion dieser Annahme: So wird aufgezeigt, dass sich nicht nur der Sport den Medien anpasst, sondern auch eine „Sportifizierung“ der Medien stattfindet. Zudem ist die mediale Dominanz nicht erdruckend, denn auch im Sport finden sich widerstandige Elemente. Unter anderem am Beispiel der Weltmeisterschaft 2014 wird schlieslich dargelegt, dass der Profifusball zwar hochgradig von den Medien abhangig ist es aber in mancherlei Hinsicht weniger notig gehabt hat als andere Sportarten, sich anzupassen oder gar den Medien zu unterwerfen.
