My career during the last 20 years can be likened to the zooming motion of a photographic lens, starting from a large field, taking in progressively smaller sections, and finally focusing on a single detail — zeroing in on the H-2 complex. It was not an uninterrupted motion, for during those 20 years I have also been busy raising three children, two dogs, and one husband — in that order of difficulty. Here, instead of reviewing the entire field encompassed by my studies, I will present five stops of the zoom lens: five snapshots representing — not necessarily in chronological order — five stages in my career. They brought me exponentially ever closer to the H-2 complex, until they landed me in the complex itself.
