Abstract

Die Langzeitsedierung gehort zu den aktuellen Themengebieten, mit denen sich Anasthesisten auseinandersetzen. Der relativ neue Begriff der „Langzeitsedierung“ definiert dabei in Analogie zur „Langzeitbeatmung“ Verfahren zur psychovegetativen Dampfung und motorischen Ruhigstellung beatmungspflichtiger Patienten auf Intensivstationen mit Hilfe zentralwirksamer Pharmaka. Die Aktualitat der Langzeitsedierung ruhrt wohl v. a. aus der Erkenntnis, das sie einem Patienten nicht immer nutzt und auch keine harmlose Begleitmasnahme ist, sondern das — wie die Untersuchungen von Ledingham mit Etomidate eindrucksvoll demonstrierten — ein ungunstiges Sedierungsregime sogar die Mortalitat von Intensivpatienten steigern kann.
