Abstract

It seems appropriate to include a short chapter on radiation exposure and radiation protection, because many parents ask about the danger of X-rays to their children and form misconceptions based on a lack of knowledge. On the one hand, it is important that we utilize every possible means to limit radiation exposure; on the other, we must reassure parents apprehensive about necessary X-rays that the dose of radiation received by the child is in fact relatively small compared with natural levels of exposure.
