Abstract

Until 1927 pseudarthrosis of the neck of the femur was practically incurable (M. Lange, 1951)27. This is the first condition for which I attempted to furnish an explanation of the influence of mechanical stress on the healing of fractures and to draw conclusions concerning a basic treatment (Pauwels, 1935)28.
