The present paper describes an experimental flow visualization technique that is suitable for thermal convection studies. The method non-intrusively generates neutrally buoyant time line and time streak markers. A microcomputer-based video data acquisition system is used to process the images. Analysis permits determination of velocity from the marker movement. CFD evaluation of a test case of glycerol/water solution is shown.
