Total Quality Management

Abstract

Der Begriff „Total Quality Management“ (TQM) entwickelte sich aus dem ursprunglichen Qualitatsverstandnis als Ubereinstimmung von spezifizierten mit tatsachlich festgestellten Merkmalswerten von Produkten. Die Lernfahigkeit speziell der japanischen Unternehmen zeigt sich in der Wandlung des Begriffsinhaltes der Qualitat ab 1950, als die japanischen Waren noch international fur schlicht unverkauflich gehalten wurden. Bei der Suche nach Moglichkeiten der Verbesserung dieses Zustandes sties die Japan Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) auf die Lehren des US-Amerikaners Dr. Deming. Deining gelang es in verschiedenen Vortragsreisen durch Japan, die absolute Wichtigkeit der Kundenorientierung uberzeugend zu erklaren und die Anwendung statistischer Methoden im gesamten Prozes von der Rohstoff-Prufung uber die Herstellung bis zur Messung der Kundenreaktion in praktischen Beispielen darzulegen. Mit der Einfuhrung des Deming-Preises im Jahre 1951 galt es als nationale Herausforderung, die auf diese Weise sehr umfassend definierte Qualitat durch die Anwendung statistischer Methoden zu messen und zu verbessern.
