The possibilities for the early diagnosis of morphological pancreatic diseases became more advantageous by new, angiographic and scintigraphic methods of examination. The 237 scans of the pancreas reported in this paper were performed with 75Se-l-selenomethionine. Only 5–10% of the applicated dose (about 3 µCi per kilogram of body-weight) has been absorbed by the tissues of the pancreas. By means of other radioactive tracers no readable scintigraphic images of the pancreas could be obtained. Better pancreatic scans resulted by using a 3″-scanner than by a 5″-crystal. In these cases more suitable conditions have been existing between the effective counting rate and the background resp. the radioactivity of the adjoining organs and the collimation. The double-tracer-technique, other technical modifications and some modulations of the pancreas scan are able to bring more informative results.
