Skin Cancer Prevention

Abstract

Primary prevention Skin Cancer is one of the most preventable cancers and there is strong evidence that UV radiation is the main environmental factor. The best interventional target for primary prevention is children. Adequate photoprotection may be achieved by wearing protective clothes and by using a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Actinic keratosis and squamous cell carcinoma have shown a direct protective effect on sunscreen use in human beings. More time will be needed to prove the efficiency of the preventive effect on melanoma and basal cell carcinoma. Sunbeds use is a major concern since it has been confirmed a positive association between melanoma and sunbed use.
