Abstract

Der empirische Ansatzpunkt der Untersuchung ist die organisierte Praxis der Kontrolle der Gewaltdarstellung in den Medien. Die Fallbeispiele bilden zum einen die auf Gesetzesgrundlage arbeitenden Landesmedienanstalten (LMAs) und zum anderen die selbstverantwortliche Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Fernsehen (FSF). An erster Stelle gilt es, die organisierten Verfahren zur Verringerung der Mediengewalt zu erklaren. Warum wird Gewaltdarstellung so und nicht anders kontrolliert? Welche Handlungsorientierungen und institutionalisierten Deutungsmuster bestimmen die Praxis der Regulation? Nach welchen Vorgaben werden Gewaltdarstellungen beurteilt? Was passiert, wenn Sendungen nach den Kriterien rechtlicher Vorgaben gemeinsam beurteilt — zensiert — werden mussen? Was bedeuten die organisationsinternen Erfahrungen bei der Kontrolle der Gewaltdarstellung wiederum fur die Ausendarstellung der Regulation?
