Abstract

Das Risikomanagement von Unternehmen im Allgemeinen und von Versicherern im Besonderen ist derzeit Gegenstand politischer Diskussionen und regulatorischer Aktivitaten. Ausgelost wurde das offentliche Interesse einerseits von Bilanzskandalen wie der Enron-Pleite, durch die die Veroffentlichungspflichten fur kapitalmarktorientierte Unternehmen drastisch verscharft und erweitert wurden, insbesondere in Bezug auf das Risikomanagement. Andererseits fuhrte die wirtschaftliche Schieflage der Equitable Life in Grosbritannien und der Mannheimer Versicherungsgruppe in Deutschland zu einer kritischen Reflexion der Regulierung von Versicherern1 und zu Ad-hoc-Uberarbeitungen von nationalen Verordnungen zum Schutz der Versicherungsnehmer.
