Abstract

The patient lying recumbent is the recommended position for examining two conditions. One is for determining a discrepancy in leg length. If discovered and addressed early in life, an insidious progression to unilateral disabling arthritis of the knees or hips decades later might be averted. The text contains a rapid assessment of this common anomaly of leg length.
