
Although the incidence of peptic ulcer disease related gastric outlet obstruction (GOO) continues to decrease, acute care surgeons still deal with the management of GOO from a variety of benign and malignant causes. It is imperative to understand the potential etiologies of both benign and malignant GOO and the subsequent endoscopic and surgical management. We review common benign and malignant causes of GOO and the associated treatment algorithms.
