Chapter is devoted to the specific material symmetry of ferroelectric ceramics. Fundamental ferroelectric properties of ceramics like texture, electric poling, hysteresis loop and operational limits are briefly described. Material properties of PZT ceramics are discussed in more details including material data for some of the commercially available material types – soft or hard PZT. Some of the perspective other lead-free ceramic compositions are briefly mentioned among other piezoelectric ceramic materials, including material data. Finally, an example of the calculation of the effective material coefficients is presented for the mechanically textured piezoelectric ceramics.
