
Abstract5G is the 5th generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks designed to address the increasing need for higher capacity and throughput in mobile devices, driven by new applications, use cases, and lower latency requirements. The number of mobile devices connected to a cellular network is constantly increasing. Simultaneously they require higher capacity and throughput, partly driven by new devices or applications, new use cases with increased download speed requirements, and lower latency requirements. Securing 5G networks is crucial for the success of its adoption, especially for its business users. Therefore, its standard was designed to address the previous network standard’s security shortcomings directly. Furthermore, in network evolution and the 5G rollout, the increased virtualization of network elements is a growing trend.
