
Wheelchair basketball is a popular sport for people with disabilities. Movement skills during competition require a suitable grip and wheelchair sizing. An inappropriate handgrip and wheelchair sizing may hinder performance. This research collected anthropometric data of Thai wheelchair basketball athletes. The objective of this study was to describe anthropometric variations of wheelchair basketball athletes. The participants included 75 Thai wheelchair basketball athletes, 20–40 years old, with a function determining classification level of 1.0–4.5, and more than 1 year of playing wheelchair basketball experience. Anthropometric measurements were collected and analyzed. Descriptive statistics provided means, standard deviations, and percentile values. The results indicated the following mean anthropometric values, hand length (188.63 ± 14.02 mm.), palm length (108.87 ± 6.13 mm.), index finger to pisiform length (140.85 ± 8.10 mm.), maximum spread (210.14 ± 16.69 mm.), and sitting height 821.00 ± 84.44 mm. These anthropometric values are useful for designing appropriate handgrip and wheelchair sizing for wheelchair basketball athletes.
