
Disorders of sex development (DSD) present a unique challenge for the pediatric surgeon. Recently, there have been significant changes in nomenclature, new insight into aetiology and a greater understanding of the social, psychological and emotional impact of DSD on patients. This has led to dramatic and rapid changes in management of this spectrum of diseases with a new focus on patient autonomy and delayed surgical intervention.
