The paper describes an approach to the automated technological preparation for production of straight bevel gears with the localized contact. The flank of the driven gear is a conical involute surface. The contact localization in the gear is achieved by using the modified conical involute surface for the driving gear flank. The contact localization is carried out by the synthesis parameters. The paper proposes the technique to make a meaningful choice of synthesis parameters. The strength checking calculation is carried out using the Hertz solutions of the problem of contact between two bodies bounded by surfaces of the second order. The examples of calculation for two straight bevel gears are presented.
