Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is a basic parameter of renal function. Its measurement is usually performed to determine renal clearance for evaluation and follow-up of renal disease. 51Cr-Ethylenediaminetetraacetate (51Cr-EDTA) is eliminated from the body only by glomerular filtration and thus clearance of this agent can be used to measure GFR. The method described provides a simple and accurate method to measure this parameter.
