
Otitis media and otitis externa are routinely and frequently diagnosed in office practice and are generally treated with few poor outcomes. They are usually easily diagnosed, and the organisms that cause them are well known. Yet, astonishingly, there remain several basic controversies in the treatment and care of individuals with these entities. Several large meta-analysis studies and multidisciplinary and specialist task forces have attempted to create a consensus on the treatment of these common disorders.
