</script>The monoclonal antibody technology has had a major impact on the serological and biochemical analysis of human tumor antigens. Monoclonal antibodies have rapidly led to the identification and characterization of a large number of antigenic determinants on cancer cells. To date, most of these monoclonal antibodies have been of mouse or rat origin. Antigens recognized by these reagents have therefore been defined generally by their immunogenicity in the mouse or rat, and they do not necessarily correspond to antigens that are immunogenic in humans.
