
So far we have been considering the major bodies of the Solar System. There is also a menagerie of smaller objects. Only recently have astronomers been able to begin the task of unravelling the history of the Solar System and to relate the great variety of objects to its early formation. Our ideas are still rather sketchy but in their basic outline are unlikely to be very far wrong.
