If you have tried some of the applets in the previous chapter, you will have found that the applets functioned correctly, but that the layout of the components may have been different. On looking more closely at these applets you will see that the components are added from left to right and when the first row is full the next component to be added is placed in the row below. This is the default layout for Panel objects and is called FlowLayout. There are five layout managers defined for AWT components which we are going to look at in this chapter: FlowLayout BorderLayout CardLayout GridLayout GridBagLayout
