
This paper presents a resource reservation scheme that integrates transport protocol extensions to support continuous media and bulk data transfer. Specifically, our resource reservation protocol maps IP flows onto ATM VCs and end nodes support extensions to TCP/UDP so that the reserved bandwidth can be fully used. These modules have been implemented as part of the first phase of the AMInet Project dedicated to providing advanced integrated services as fiber to the home and high speed backbone networks become reality. Performance figures of our implementation are given to show that our mechanisms can support services beyond TCP/IP and to prove the effectiveness of our system.
