AbstractA DNA fragment containing the URA3 gene from Torulaspora delbrueckii was isolated by complementation cloning in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. DNA sequence analysis revealed the presence of an ORF of 795 bp, encoding a 264 amino acid protein, which shares a high similarity to the Saccharomycetaceae Ura3 proteins. Furthermore, the cloned ORF fully complemented the ura3 mutation of S. cerevisiae, confirming that it encodes for the TdUra3 protein. The GeneBank Accession No. for TdURA3 is AF518402.
