This letter presents a simple control method that can alleviate the influence of input saturation by the so‐called fictitious reference iterative tuning and anti‐windup proportional–integral–derivative (PID) control architecture. The effectiveness of the presented method is demonstrated through experiments with a DC motor control system. © 2015 Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan. Published by John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
