
AbstractAn outline of the three phase method of discrete event simulation is given, and problems in designing a language for this method based on ALGOL 68, together with the final form of the language, are discussed. An important area is seen to be that of lists or sets, and the necessity of devising facilities that are powerful yet simple to use is stressed. Operators are shown to be particularly useful for this.
