The dielectric properties of thin film MIM structures of NaYF4 are extensively investigated in the frequency range 100 Hz to 16 kHz and in the temperature range 77 to 450 K. The capacitance and loss tangent of these films is found to be dependent on frequency and temperature. The variation of capacitance and loss factor of these films are also studied with film thickness. The plots of loss factor versus temperature exhibite pronounced maxima at particular temperatures, these are attributed to the relaxation process. The activation energy for the migration of charge carriers in these films is found to be 1.33 eV. The conduction process is explained on the basis of the diffusion of F− ions through vacancies in the films.
