AbstractThis article is a brief introduction to different aspects of string theory on maximally supersymmetric plane waves in ten dimensions. The article touches on the following aspects: quantization of free strings on the plane wave background, the plane wave as a Penrose limit and it's relation to AdS / CFT; and finally the causal structure of the plane wave and holography.
Supersymmetric field theories in quantum mechanics, maximally supersymmetric plane waves, plane wave as a Penrose limit, quantizationof free strings, String and superstring theories; other extended objects (e.g., branes) in quantum field theory, Kaluza-Klein and other higher-dimensional theories, AdS/CFT, Quantum field theory on curved space or space-time backgrounds, Two-dimensional field theories, conformal field theories, etc. in quantum mechanics
