Abstract

AbstractAm 2. Dezember 1995 wurde das Sonnenobservatorium SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) an Bord einer Atlas‐IIAS‐Rakete vom Cape Canaveral gestartet. Im Februar 1996 erreichte SOHO seine vorgesehene Beobachtungsposition. Bereits seit Januar 1996 liefern die zwölf Instrumente der Raumsonde nahezu ununterbrochen Daten von unserem Zentralgestirn, die in ihrer Vollständigkeit und Qualität alle bisherigen Sonnenmissionen übertreffen. Eines dieser Instrumente ist SUMER (Solar Ultraviolet Measurements of Emitted Radiation), das mit bisher unerreichter spektraler und räumlicher Auflösung quantitative Strahlungsmessungen der äußeren Sonnenatmosphäre im vakuum‐ultravioletten Spektralbereich ermöglicht.
