Abstract

AbstractEin neues Fusionsexperiment vom Typ Stellarator, WENDELSTEIN 7‐X, wird gegenwärtig am Max‐Planck‐Institut für Plasmaphysik (IPP) in Garching bei München geplant und vorbereitet. Es hat die Aufgabe, die Reaktoreignung des Stellarator‐Konzepts zu zeigen. Die wissenschaftliche Begutachtung im Rahmen des europäischen Fusionsprogrammes haben die Vorschläge inzwischen erfolgreich bestanden. Damit können die Planungen unter teilweiser europäischer Finanzierung weitergeführt werden. Vor Baubeginn ist eine zweite Begutachtung auf europäischer Ebene zu durchlaufen und die Genehmigung der deutschen Geldgeber einzuholen. Die vorläufige Kostenschätzung von 1989 geht von etwa 350 Millionen DM aus.
