AbstractA simplified creep apparatus was used to evaluate the creep and recovery of polyethylene and polypropylene. The creep resistance of polypropylene containing as much as 9% n‐heptane (boiling) soluble material is superior to that of linear polyethylene. The lower the boiling n‐heptane soluble content, the better the resistance to creep. The creep resistance of polypropylene is also improved by annealing.
