AbstractA rule of mixture for the prediction of the loss factor of hybrid laminates of graphite/epoxy and kevlar/epoxy composite materials is developed. The theoretical values agree reasonably with the experimental values for ten samples. An optimal laminate having the modulus of aluminium and twice the loss factor of graphite/epoxy laminates is achieved.
