AbstractA time division multiplex (TDM) communication system for baseband analog signals is described. The constant amplitude pulse width modulation scheme utilizes small pulse width deviations for short‐haul opticalfiber applications. An enhanced signal‐to‐noise ratio (S / N) for low‐frequency information (< 1000 Hz) may be secured by detecting a high‐order Fourier signal component of the sampling frequency. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
