AbstractAn equivalent circuit is developed for an electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) antenna that can provide a mathematically simple means for calculating the antenna's input impedance. The model predicts a −10 dB impedance bandwidth of 0.42 GHz which is validated against simulated and measured values of 0.50 GHz and 0.51 GHz, respectively.
