AbstractA new design of a circularly polarized antenna is presented. The proposed antenna consists of two nonsymmetrical arc arms printed on the opposite side of the substrate. Axial ratio (AR) bandwidth can be significantly enhanced by etching a pair of nonsymmetrical arc slots. The antenna has been fabricated and measured. Experimental results show that the antenna possesses an impedance bandwidth of about 17.9% and a 3‐dB AR bandwidth of 22% relative to the centre frequency of 5.6 GHz. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
