AbstractA critical analysis of the data, obtained by NAGASAWA et al. for the second virial coefficient (A2) determined by light scattering measurements have been carried out for sodium polystyrene sulfonate (NaPSS). The result are analyzed in light of the different theories for the second virial coefficient. Finally, a critical discussion has been made of the theory proposed for the separate determination of the electrostatic interactions and the chain character of the polyelectrolyte by means of which the deviation from ideality are meansured.
