Abstract3‐Hydroxyhydantoins, representing a new class of compounds, are easily accessible from esters of α‐isocyanato fatty acids and hydroxylamine via esters of α‐hydroxyureido fatty acids. Structural assignment is based on Exner correlations of infrared spectra and other physical data. Chemical properties are as expected from those of hydantoins.
