Abstract

The striking progress in the field of drug therapy which has been taking place for the last two decades has been marked by many new substances for the treatment of disease which have greatly influenced the field of medicine and also laid the foundation for many advances to come. Twenty‐five years ago, there were very few speCific drugs available for therapy. Now, there are many preparations, and almost every year there are developed some ten to twenty agents which have distinct merit.
