AbstractBased on data of stratigraphic thickness, ages, lithology, density, porosity and seismic sections, sedimentary and subsidence histories can be obtained by plotting subsidence curves and backstripping analysis. The study indicates that the difference between total subsidence and tectonic subsidence in the Sichuan basin decreases as the geological age reduces, showing that the amount of compaction is small when the stratum is young. The subsidence rates are different in various periods. The trend is that the subsidence rate was large during the early time and became small as the time is running.
