AbstractThe determination of the excess free energy of a liquid mixture from its dew‐curve is discussed. A simple representation of the experimental results is introduced, with the aid of two auxiliary variables U1 and U2. As an illustration, the excess free energy of the system CO‐CH4 is deduced from the dew‐point pressure measurements of Mathot, Staveley et al.; its value agrees well with that obtained from the boiling‐curve.
